================================================================================ InkFinger What's New? ================================================================================ v1.22 - 22nd July, 2000 ----------------------- Additions and Changes: Minor tweaks to code Added flat toolbar Updated e-mail and WWW addresses throughout. Bug Fixes Fixed some minor bugs and typos that went largely unnoticed :) Fixed installer which was always installing to "c:\program files" regardless of actual location. v1.21 - 9th September, 1999 --------------------------- Additions and Changes: Added "Jump to last output" that jumps to the start of the output for the selected finger entry. InkFinger now uses a smaller (much smaller!) and faster installer. Bug Fixes The popup monkey menu now disappears correctly if you click outside it. Thanks to Mario Knok. Fixed bug where InkFinger appeared to be grabbing %100 of CPU time on some Win9x systems. v1.2 - 1st November, 1998 ------------------------- Additions and Changes: Added a control menu on the system tray monkey -- right click it to access it. Added a terse textual description of any WinSock error alongside its number to make errors a little less mysterious. You can now clear the finger count of one or more selected entries by using Tools->Clear Finger Count. HTML autodetection. When HTML auto detection is switched on from the options screen (it is off by default) InkFinger will examine finger output for a matching "" "" pair, and display it in the system's default, or other browser, as selected in the Options->Advanced screen. Each finger entry can override InkFinger's "HTML autodetect" to display as HTML always, or never. Selecting "never" also allows the finger output to be viewed as it's recieved, otherwise the output is buffered until it's received entirely, so that InkFinger can perform the HTML detection. Any InkFinger entries from version 1.1a or earlier are automatically converted to InkFinger 1.2 format (which is just a rename of an entry's monitor file). If any conversions are made, a message will appear when InkFinger is launched. Added an extra status bar pane, to display progress during a finger. Made InkFinger generally more responsive. Updated the online help and added a troubleshooting section. Miscellaneous other minor improvements. Bug Fixes: On some systems (usually systems without Internet Explorer 4), the toolbar buttons could appear blank. On the new entry dialog, if the "X" close window button was clicked, it would create a blank new entry, rather than cancelling the operation. Loading an .ife file created with InkFinger 1.0 (not 1.1 or later) could crash InkFinger. Attempting to deleting an entry that was being processed, deleted it from the displayed list (but not the internal list). Now it doesn't delete it from the displayed list. Fixed a problem with "kill all jobs" not always clearing the job list correctly. Fixed "Select All" which was selecting nada. v1.1a - 20th March, 1998 ------------------------ Bug Fixes: Fixed minor bug that prevented groups being set via Properties->Assign Groups. v1.1 - 18th March, 1998 ----------------------- Additions and Changes: Added command line options: "group1", "group2", "group3", "status" and "mail" to launch these groups when InkFinger starts. Added command line option "exitwhenidle" which instructs InkFinger to exit when its job list is empty. e.g. "InkFinger mail group2 exitwhenidle" Added verbose (or "long") finger support. By default, all fingers are short unless the "request long output" option is checked (for each entry that requires it) This option requests that a finger server returns a verbose reply. Note that setting an entry to request long output will not necessarily reply differently from normal -- that's entirely up to the server to respond accordingly. Added WHOIS support, under Tools->Whois (keyboard shortcut is Ctrl-O) Unlimited WHOIS's and "quick" fingers may be queued up in the jobs list (previously only one quick finger was allowed to be queued up in the jobs list at a time) Changed the taskbar tooltip and status bar info to use descriptions instead of addresses. Cancelled fingers now display a message indicating so. Added a group column, so you can quickly see the groups that each entry belongs to. Added a view jobs function. It's under (surprisingly enough) View->Jobs. The keyboard shortcut is Ctrl-J. Improved the job manager, which is now leaner and meaner. It can now also handle an unlimited maximum number of jobs. Improved the finger entry manager, which is also leaner and meaner. It too can handle an unlimited amount of entries (memory and resources permitting of course ;-) This new manager also uses less memory than 1.0 Added clipboard "Copy" command to the output window. Added a "clear output" button to the toolbar. InkFinger now remembers which list view was last used, between sessions. Many miscellaneous minor improvements. Bug Fixes: Fixed a bug where the entries using "recycle output" could get hopelessly out of sync, and make a right ol' mess of the output! When quick-fingering, InkFinger wasn't showing the address being fingered. Changing the auto-finger update rate didn't always take effect immediately. The last fingered time was displayed in GMT only. InkFinger could be a little over zealous in its attempts to keep the main window on screen on start up (would have given the impression it wasn't remembering the window position) InkFinger now uses the correct 16-colour icon for the finger entries. Previously it attempted to use the 256-colour icon, which didn't look too hot. Fixed InkFinger forgetting the user name for finger group #2 if it was changed. Fixed problem where a finger job could get cancelled without warning. v1.0 - 23rd January, 1998 ------------------------- Initial public release.
